This cheerful WELCOME mat for Mom's front entrance was a perfect choice for her home, as pink roses are used in some fashion in each room. I've been rushing around today picking up things for her homecoming, as she is to leave M.D. Anderson for Home Hospice care, in her Conroe home, tonight. My family helped to prepare a special room for her, adding many loving touches for a special mom and grandma.
As the leukemia is now attacking her brain, Mom is suffering with severe hallucinations, weakness and pain. The pain as yet cannot always be alleviated. She does have many very clear, lucid times, and has expressed to her loved ones that God has given her real peace. She told the children not to ever be afraid of dying, as it is not fearful to go through. Her sense of humor is at full throttle, helping us to relax and finally breathe a bit. She jokes that if we need to use the "Mother is dying card," to get our way, she has our permission!
The doctors have prepared us that Mom's time left will be short...and painful, perhaps with seizures causing her to be moved to Hospice Nursing Home care. We pray that does not happen.
We are happy to bring her home, and she wants us to WELCOME any of her family and friends to come by for a visit. If you know Mom, you know how she loves people...and visiting.
Our family has endured much along with Mom for the last almost six months. And we know that the grace He granted her is available for our trial as well. God is good...all the time. And He will, in His great love and mercy, soon end her suffering on this earth, and WELCOME her through Heaven's gate, to her eternal home.
