To church today I wore something uncharacteristic for me...a bit of bling-bling. My dangling earrings were two shapes, the diamond and circle, both done in mirrors, along with the necklace you see pictured. My daughter gave me the set, and I couldn't seem to find the right thing to wear with them. I got daring today.
The fun thing was how my jewelry reflected the light and sent little splashes of light bouncing everywhere. It was especially fun during the morning service while Pastor preached. The sun seemed to stream into our auditorium and playfully aim right toward me, causing a merry-go round of sparkling lights moving in patterns on the pew in front of me. Whohoo! What a light show! I did fret that I might be causing a distraction by sending little blinging SOS-ish messages toward the pulpit.
Pondering the prism-like effects caused me to remember something. My name, "Cynthia" or "Cindy" actually is derived from a Greek word meaning moon. Thus, my name carries the meaning of "one who reflects light." I guess I did that literally today. But in a different sense, I have a strong desire to reflect another kind of Light...the Light of Jesus.
And so I was prompted to whisper a prayer, and ask God to help my life be a bright and shining reflection of Him.
